Plumb Works: Giving Back and Making a Difference

Plumb Works - We Love Our Community

When Plumb Works began operating in 1989, the intown Atlanta company quickly established itself as a reliable source for Atlanta plumbing services. Simultaneously, Plumb Works set out to  become a dynamic part of the communities it serves.

Now more than 30 years later, Plumb Works’ reputation continues to speak for itself, as does its  longstanding tradition of helping those in need.

“Yes, our job is to provide best-in-class service for our customers,” says Plumb Works owner and president, Jerome Sabol. “However, we choose to take things further by giving back. It’s our way of bringing the community closer, reminding everyone that we’re all in this together.”

This practice originated years earlier when Plumb Works’ office was located in Atlanta’s Old 4th  Ward. At the time, the nearby Open Door Homeless Shelter was in operation. Sabol and Plumb Works saw a need, and donated and provided discount plumbing services throughout the shelter's history of operation.

As business began to grow, so did Plumb Works’ service area . Its roster of plumbers soon  found themselves working in Decatur, Emory, Virginia-Highland, Midtown, Buckhead, Chamblee, Brookhaven, and the vicinity. In tandem, the company’s philanthropic work began touching these communities, too.

In Decatur and the surrounding area, Plumb Works participates in fundraising efforts for schools  and organizations supporting educational institutions, including Decatur Education Foundation. In addition, Plumbs Works has worked with Kirkwood Cares, a nonprofit assisting Kirkwood residents in need. The company has provided deeply discounted services to those receiving aid from the organization.

Arguably its most prominent Decatur-area charitable partnership is the one with Amplify My  Community. This nonprofit organizes music events to help raise funds for other nonprofits working to relieve poverty and homelessness on the local level. Since 2011, Amplify My Community has directed more than $385,000 to community-based nonprofits. Plumb Works, along with other key sponsors, has helped make this dream a reality.

“Everyone involved with Amplify has great passion for their work,” Sabol says. “Once I found out  they were working with Decatur Cooperative Ministry, I knew it was a good fit. We’re always looking for ways to help others, and we have a really good relationship with Amplify. It’s a great cause, and Amplify does it through amazing music events, which helps bring everyone together.”

According to Sabol, Plumb Works allows its staff to play a part in philanthropy, too. When  providing staff bonuses, Plumb Works often makes a donation to a charity of each employees' choice. For example, Plumb Works recently made a donation in an employee's name to Ahimsa House, an organization dedicated to helping the human and animal victims of domestic violence reach safety together.

Plumb Works Care - Breast Cancer Awareness Month

In honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with pink being the official color, Sabol ordered pink shirts for employees to wear for the occasion. Additionally, Plumb Works made a company donation to the virtual Winship Win the Fight 5K road race, which benefits the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.

“Being a part of the community is more than simply doing business,” Sabol says. “We hope to make a difference, and we’ll continue to do all we can

Nothing puts the cold chill on the festive holiday season like a frozen or burst pipe. Frozen pipes are bad enough, but when they burst, the problem worsens and can easily lead to flood damage requiring costly repairs. This all-too-common occurrence affects an estimated 250,000 homes in America each year. And Georgia may be a hot bed for frozen pipes. According to a State Farm report released in 2023, Georgia topped the list of frozen pipe-related losses at $100 million (from August 2002-August 2023.) Plumb Works remains your go-to source for frozen or burst pipe calls in our service area. However, there are some simple tips you can apply to protect pipes in cold weather and help avoid a house call. Before the thermometer dips below freezing – that’s 32 degrees Fahrenheit – do the following:
